Gulf of Mexico/St. Martins Marsh Aquatic Preserve


The Withlacoochee, Homosassa, Chassahowitzka & Crystal River all flow to the Gulf of Mexico.  Between the Crystal River and the Chassahowitzka river is the St. Martins Marsh Aquatic Preserve.  The preserve encompasses 23,000 acres of submerged lands and is managed by the Dept. of Environmental Protection.

North Citrus County

  • Cross Florida Greenway –  From US 19, north of Crystal River, turn onto boat ramp access road just south of the Barge Canal Bridge.
  • Boat Ramps:  One (1) 

Central Citrus County

  • Fort Island Gulf Beach – From U.S. 19, turn west on West Fort Island Trail. Travel 9.1 miles to the road’s end.
  • Ozello Community Park – From US 19 turn west onto Ozello Trail (CR 494).  Travel 9.3 miles to the road’s end.  Turn right onto Sand Dollar Lane and follow the paved portion which curves left and right.
  • Boat Ramps:  Two (2)

South Citrus County

  • Mason Creek – Hwy 19 in Homosassa to west on W. Yulee Drive.  Travel 2.2 miles to Fishbowl Dr. and turn left (Fishbowl become Yulee) and travel about 1 mile and go left onto Mason Creek Road.  The boat ramp is located at the road’s end.
  • Boat Ramps:   One (1)
